Okay, we have updated our equipment page as we have acquired a paracorder 667, an Ovilus X, a full-spectrum camera, full-spectrum illuminator and a new night vision camcorder. We will be testing these shortly. The Ovilus X has several useful modes, such as creating white noise, creating an EMF field, phonetic mode, and a dictionary mode. We are looking very forward to testing these products! Next week, we will be investigating a private residence/property. Thanks for checking in!!

Observations and conclusions-

When we first arrived, we met our host, Thomas Tarver. He did not disclose much about the paranormal proclivities of the building, as he didn’t want to contaminate or investigation. We checked into the infamous Dixie room, which has the reputation of having quite a bit of paranormal activity. The Duff Green Mansion is absolutely beautiful! It is not in the greatest neighborhood, but I still recommend it as it is a very charming bed and breakfast. It was the first B&B I have ever visited, and it was well worth the wait. It had served as a hospital during the Civil War, as many structures did at the time. We had a pleasant dinner at Roca’s Restaurant, which is at a country club, and came back to do our walk-throughs and familiarize ourselves with the building.

The first notable experience was at approximately 9pm, when I heard a scream in the Dixie Room. It was female, and I could not ascertain where the scream came from. JM was in the shower, and said he did not hear it. Unfortunately, I did not have the recorder on when the scream occurred.

We went up to the second floor (Dixie Room is in the “basement” but it is considered the first floor) around 9:30. I had placed a video camera and the parapump in the Dixie Room while we wandered around the second floor. I also placed our secondary recorder on the dresser. The recorder malfunctioned around two minutes in. It was not the the batteries, as they were fine when I checked them. It remains unexplainable. The video did have some strange noises, but there is a possibility that it was us walking around upstairs, so I am not including them.

On the second floor, on our 9:3o trip, I didn’t experience any negative energies, but we did have experiences. We got several EVPs, and a very good video of several orbs. We observed the orbs with the infrared LCD screen, so we decided to turn on our video. It did not disappoint. It was nice balls of light. There is no question in my mind it was not dust or an insect. We got nothing else on any other video, and many were taken. We decided to rest up and go back upstairs after midnight.

Around 12:30 am, we went back upstairs. I felt something pushing me back, like it did not want us there. It was a negative feeling. I was quite curious about the situation, as we had not felt anything all night. In fact, I had thought this was friendly energy up until that point. I stayed out on the porch for a bit while JM went inside. He got a very interesting face in the window. Now, this was strange. There were plants outside the window, but they did not appear where that face was. We have several other photos where there is no such face. I decided to go inside to do a couple of EVP sessions. All in all, I got well over 20 EVPs. Some are quite loud.

I can honestly say that the Duff Green Mansion is haunted. I do believe they are more of a residual haunting rather than intelligent, thought. As far as the B&B itself, we fully recommend it. We wish to return someday for the actual experience rather than as paranormal investigators.

Off to Vicksburg, MS

We have a business meeting in Jackson on Monday, so we decided to stop in Vicksburg and stay the night on Tuesday night. We will be going to a paranormal hotspot bed and breakfast, and will be staying in one of the rooms with the highest amount of activity. I doubt I will be able to sleep, but this should be entertaining. Getting all the equipment together…anxious, but I think I am prepared for this It used to be a Civil War hospital. We will also wander around the battlefield, which is now a park. You can’t take equipment into the park, but hopefully can get some pictures or voice recordings.

On a completely unrelated side note, there is a Coach Outlet store (handbags) that will be visited.

Observations and conclusions:

There were a few orb photos and a couple of EVPs. Energy was felt in the area of the grave with iron fencing. I attempted to do a Spirit Box session, but got no responses. There was not a lot of activity here. The biggest obstacle was that there were many cows on a farm right next to the cemetery. This proved to be very irritating as they were “mooing” a great deal. This obstacle made it very difficult to do a Spirit Box session and EVP work. I do not advise further investigation.

There were several orb photos. I felt no negative energy. I didn’t really feel any energy to speak of, except when doing the Spirit Box session. The Ghost Radar words were interesting. There were some anomalous EVPs. Video had EVP that sounded like expletive; JM took the video, and I got a “similar” expletive on my audio recording. All in all, some activity, but I do not feel it is enough to warrant another investigation.

I am a little less busy right now, and not in as much pain as I was in and my college classes are getting a bit easier. Plan to go back to Marks Mill in the near future; there were things there and I want more evidence.

A bit of a product review

For Christmas, I received the Zoom recorder. If you are not familiar with this product, here is the link:

I have practiced using this around the house. It seems to be very effective, compared to my other recorders. This does not have a lot of noise in the recording process. The sound is flawless; it uses a front speaker and rear speaker, and records in stereo. The recorder does two recordings when on front and rear settings. I am blown away by the quality of this recorder, and would recommend it for anyone wanting to do EVP work. It isn’t cheap, but it is worth it compared to the others.

I also received the P-SB7 ITC research device. This works like a hacked Radio Shack “Ghost box” but is much more effective in regards to ITC communication.

This was made specifically for communication. It has options for AM, FM…the one thing I absolutely LOVE about this thing is that you can control the frequency sweeps. I love it, and have practiced with it a bit. There is one thing that bothers me about this device, though. That is the speaker. I HATE THIS SPEAKER. It is useless. Luckily, it does have a jack for a different speaker, which I am going to have to purchase because I cannot hear anything on this compared to my ghost box radio shack hack. Extremely disappointing that the speaker seems to be an afterthought.

There were other items for Christmas, but we need to “play” with them some more before I can advise on purchasing them. Until the next investigation…

Much thanks to the reader who sent this photo; personally, I have gotten some very strange vibes in Prague, Arkansas. We will be going to investigate this vicinity after hunting season, because this was captured on hunting land. The location will remain undisclosed.

I am not going to bother to even put up a field report for this one. There wasn’t a single shred of evidence, not a single EVP, not a single picture. I am actually a little upset about this one, because JM and I SAW SOMETHING. This was on November 24th, 2011. We saw a strange light…it was a red light. We went toward the light, it disappeared. We inspected the area very carefully to make sure we were not mistaken…nada. I wish there could be SOME evidence for this one, as I personally have never seen anything (except a shadow person several years ago). It was very strange. Warrants further investigation; wish I had some evidence to present. I did do a ghost box session, though. Here are the results and the session.

Any unusual occurrences?-Yes. JM and I heard a strange noise. Later, near the historical marker, JM heard many voices screaming. My ghost box refused to work.

Observations and conclusions-

This place was very strange. We did not get a lot of physical evidence, though. Got a couple of orb photos and some weird sounds on the EVP recordings. At the beginning of the investigation, JM and I heard a strange noise. I inspected this on the recording, and after filtering, it sounded like a musical tune. I did feel a “presence” but it did not feel negative at all.

My ghost box didn’t work. I tried to turn it on and got nothing. I ran back to the truck to change the batteries; again, nothing. Tried to change batteries yet again…nothing. When we came home, it started working.

Prior to leaving, JM decided to try to get photos at the historical marker. He turned on his recorder. He said he started hearing terrible screaming. He yelled for me to get out of the truck. He told me he heard many people screaming; he was quite shaken. I did not hear this screaming. When listening to the recording, we did hear a very strange buzz, but not the loud screaming he heard.

I do believe this location is “haunted”. I believe these are residual spirits, that is they are stuck in a pattern, like a record groove in time. At no time during this investigation did I feel negativity.

It was a very windy night; I would like to go back to investigate when it isn’t so windy.

This location definitely warrants more investigation to find more evidence. We will try to go back soon.

Directions-Go south of Sheridan, toward Fordyce. It is on AR-97 N near Warren, Arkansas.
